Join us for this month's author talk and book signing: Champions of Civil and Human Rights in South Carolina, the first volume in a five-volume anthology. Lare introduces more than one hundred civil rights leaders from South Carolina to chronicle a massive revolution in American society.

South Carolina Center for the Book Selects The Other Mother for 2017 Route One Reads Initiative

For the third consecutive year, the South Carolina Center for the Book will participate in the Route One Reads initiative, a program under the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. In 2017, the theme of the initiative will be memoirs and biographies, and the selected book to represent South Carolina is The Other Mother: A Rememoir by Teresa Bruce.

The South Carolina State Library’s Center for the invites you to Speaker @ the Center at noon on Thursday, September 25.

Richard Dwight Porcher, Jr., and William Robert Judd will discuss their book, The Market Preparation of Carolina Rice: An Illustrated History of Innovations in the Lowcountry Rice Kingdom (USC Press). This is the first book to illustrate and describe the implements and machines used to prepare Carolina rice for overseas markets.
